The Solheim Cup is underway at Golf Club St. Leon Rot, Germany this weekend, and the golfers of the LPGA are lighting up social media, showing their fans the fun they’re having and keeping the friendly spirit of competition alive between teams USA and Europe. We used MVPindex™ to rank the top five golfers on social media in the Solheim Cup, and here’s how they panned out:
When it comes to thanking their sponsors, these girls have been second to none during the lead in to the Solheim Cup. In the last two weeks, Solheim Cup participants from both Team USA and Europe have posted 43 pieces of branded content to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
GoPro leads the pack of brand mentions and total engagement for the last 2 weeks thanks to the help of the number one LPGA brand ambassador on MVPindex’s list, Morgan Pressel. Four of Pressel’s posts for GoPro are in the top 10 most engaged branded posts around the Solheim Cup (numbers 4, 6, 8, and 9).
Morgan Pressel drove home why she’s the most coveted LPGA athlete by sponsors on social media by also posting for Odyssey and American Airlines during the last two weeks. Pressel’s post to Instagram for Odyssey/Callaway was the 10th most popular branded post around the Solheim Cup:
MVPindex’s 2nd ranked LPGA golfer on the list is Sandra Gal, and so far for the Solheim Cup, she’s been grateful to Solheim Cup sponsor Bushnell. Gal has posted 3 times, once to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter each about the Bushnell Range Finder the girls received for their participation:
Number 3 on social media is Lexi Thompson. Lexi has made a total of 4 brand posts for her sponsors Red Bull and Puma during the Solheim cup. Lexi’s post for Red Bull to Facebook was the 3rd most popular brand post around the Solheim Cup in the last two weeks, and the most popular on Facebook. Lexi knows how to have fun with her fans and brand sponsors alike through her sense of humor:
The 4th ranked golfer in the Solheim Cup is none other than Michelle Wie. The Rainbow-Haired One has the honor of the top two most-engaged branded posts during the Solheim Cup for her sponsor, Nike. Michelle loves to use Instagram to show her fans every aspect of her golf life and fans reward her with great engagement. Wie also has the largest total social media audience of the pack at 437,648 across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Michelle does a great job of engaging her fans in the above photo by calling out the special edition shoes, and then letting her audience know that there are more photos with which they can engage on her photoblog. She calls the audience to action while at the same time authentically fawning over her new kicks.
5th Ranked Brittany Lincicome is a retweet machine. She’s RT’d 8 banded posts from her brand sponsors and teammates in the past week around the Solheim Cup, amplifying their messages to her 67.5K Twitter followers.
